Marshall N. Stephens built the first mill at Glencairn Ont. in, or about the year 1853, and held a prominent place in the conduct of public affairs in that portion of the county till his death in 1903. He was one of the moving spirits for the construction of the branch of the Hamilton and Northwestern Railway through that place in 1878.
